It’s taken me a few weeks to get this done but the latest Extra question pool is now on the site. This came into effect at the start of July 2016 and is valid until June 30th 2020. The question pool is the most recent NCVEC 3rd public release. Please let me know if there are any issues that crop up with mis-formatted questions or anything else.
As of July 1st, the new Extra question pool is in effect. I have taken down the old question pool and now only the new, current, question pool is on the site – hopefully everyone working on the old pool managed to take their exams before last Sunday! I think we ironed out the few glitches that were found in the new pool so hopefully everything should work just fine but please let me know if you come across anything odd.
I have updated the Extra exam information page with links to the latest ARRL and Gordon West test prep materials. These are great companions to a test prep site such as this and give you the necessary background information to understand the theory and practical aspects of amateur radio that are being tested in the exam.
73′s Simon, AA9PW.
I have added in the new Extra question pool that will be used in exam sessions starting on July 2012. If you are taking your exam before July 1st, please continue to use the Extra questions, for exam testing sessions that are on July 1st or later please study using the Extra (July+) questions.
You can find more information about the new question pool at the ARRL VEC page, including errata and links to the pool in .doc and text format and the figures (unchanged from the current pool) as a PDF document.
Please let me know if you come across any problems with the question formatting, etc.
Thanks to everyone who emailed me about a few of the questions in the extra exam which were a little messed up (‘conjoined questions’ – the answers of one question tagged on to the end of the answers from the previous question in the pool). Questions E9A12, E5A17 and E7H06 were affected. I have fixed these now so the answers for these questions are as they should be and the missing questions are back in the practice exam.
Please let me know if there are any other problems.
Cheers, Simon. AA9PW
The question pool for the amateur (ham) radio Extra class license exams is set to change over at the end of June 2008. The new question pool that will be used for exams taken from July 1st 2008 onwards is now available for practice at AA9PW.com. You can practice either a complete exam or work on the material a section at a time and all figures are provided. If you are interested, you can download the complete question pool in MS Word or PDF format from the NVEC site.
