Updating Commercial Exam Pools

Published by at 2:33 pm under News

I’ve just started the process of updating the commercial exam pools. This is long overdue but hopefully shouldn’t take me too long to complete once things going. I have a test version of Element 1 available, you can find a link to this at the bottom of the Commercial Exam page.
Current pools are now available for the Elements 1,3,8 and 9, the old outdated pools have been removed.

I’m playing around with the layout and styles to make it more readable – its still a bit rough at the moment. Give it a try, let me know what you think. If there are any bugs, please let me know and I’ll work on fixing them over the next few days, along with adding in some of the other question pools.

Simon.

It takes a long time to go over the commercial question pools.

It took a long time for me to go over them several times for RadioTelephone Tutor.

There is total of 1044 for the MROP (Element 1) plus GROL (Element 3) plus Ship Radar Endorsement (Element 8).

It seem to take me forever to go over the questions looking for mistakes in the question pools.

And there are a few mistakes in the question pools. Nothing big thro.

The exams require diagrams to answer the questions. Voltages on op amp pins and such. Did I miss their locations. Is there a reference page.ext/

I.m an am extra WI6UMT. Am trying for GROL and radar. Was ECM in airforce, Vietnam.

Am currently a math instructor at California Southern University. Picking up a law degree on the side and Playing WAS on qrp half watt. Rockmite on 15 and 20.

    Thanks.

@Lassar – Yes, there are quite a few formatting problems with the commercial pool files, its a bit of a pain to go through them. I wrote some scripts to flag and correct the obvious errors and so hopefully they are in reasonable shape.

@Clynton – The Element 3 diagrams are there and they should appear automatically with the question. I dont have them for the other exams yet, but they should be in the question pool files I downloaded from the FCC and I will add them in.

Element 1 does not appear to require any figures and I have added in the figures for Element 8 so I think these question pools are good to go. I will be taking out the links to the old questions and replacing with the new ones.

Element 9 is now available along with all its required figures. Please let me know if there are any glitches with the question text, this one was a real pain to clean up…

Note to the FCC & COLEM team – please make the questions available in plain text with separate image files as well as in a printable Word/PDF format, this would make life much easier for people trying to write software to do things with the question pools!
